Outcomes & Goals

The tutorial, mentoring, and enrichment activities that constitute the core of Boost! are expected to yield the following outcomes:

Short-Term Outcomes (annually)

* 75 % of students will increase by at least one level of proficiency on both the California Standards Tests for Reading and Math, and on the California English Language Development Test.

Intermediate-Term Outcomes (within 1-2 years)

* 90% of students will report a sense of positive personal and academic self esteem.

* 90% of students will report enjoying working with their tutor.

* 90% of students’ teachers will report improvements in attitudes towards learning.

* 90% of students will report feeling proud of their mentorship.

* 90% of students will demonstrate a desire to continue their academic studies towards college preparation.

Long-Term Outcomes (within 4-5 years)

* Students will develop greater coping skills, self confidence and independence.

* Students will consider broader career, social, and personal options as a result of mentoring experiences and exposure to diverse cultural experiences.

* Students will develop a strong support network.

* Students will successfully complete high school and continue onto post-secondary education.
